Ria

From childhood festivals to summer volleyball, Ria loves the close-knit spirit of Bow Island.

Ria Thacker and her parents moved to Bow Island to live on a farm when she was a baby, and she loved growing up in Bow Island.

You’re close to everything, and I love the small town community. It really feels like home here,” says Ria.

The Children’s Festival, which still happens annually in Bow Island, was one of her favourite events to attend while growing up.

Now, she finds herself working at the swimming pool in the summer, playing volleyball in Centennial Park, and taking road trips to nearby places like Waterton, Medicine Hat, and Lethbridge. Or, making dinner runs and slush runs to local spots, like Jimmy’s Drive Inn.

We have really beautiful summers, and we take advantage of them with all the amenities and events hosted. I went to the Softball Tournament this year, and it was really fun,” she says.

Bow Island is a really tight-knit community, and it’s nice to know almost everyone who lives here. It’s a very friendly place to live in.
